I want to change to 10" wheels and I've got a set of 10j x 6 mk2 Cosmic wheels I'd like to use. I understand that they won't fit over Mini Spares 4 pots (my prefered choice) is this correct? If so what other options do I have? Are there any alloy calipers they will fit over or are Cooper S calipers my only option? |

PM John. He has some MG Metro 4 pots that have been adapted to fit under 10" wheels. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

ive got a set of 10x6 mk2 cosmics and im planing to use K.A.D 7.9 inch discs under them, my reasoning behind this is that the K.A.D 7.9's fit under the 10x6 wellers and the inside diamiter of the cosmics is pretty much the same as the wellers. hope that they work coz i allready have the calipers and they wernt cheap!!! im pretty sure the mini spares 4pots will fit tho.. |

Thanks for the replies. I thought that wellers had more space inside them than most 10" wheels whereas cosmic wheels were one of the smallest, they do seem to curve in quite a lot towards he spokes. I have read that cosmic wheels don't fit over minispares 4 pots but that might have been on TMF so could be wrong. I might try contacting KAD and minispares to see if either of them know. Otherwise I will have to find some cars with various brakes to see what will fit. |

I've just remembered that KAD have templates on their website so you can check if the brakes will fit. The only problem is they sell 2 types of caliper for 10" wheels but there is only one template and it doesn't say which type of caliper it is for.

you got me all worried saying that so i have just rushed out and mocked up my brake/wheel set up, the K.A.D 7.9 inch calipers fit lovley into the 10x6 cosmics i have with about 5-6mm clerance all around. i cant say weather the minispares type would but the K.A.D's defernetley do. |

Strange, I must either be using the template wrong or there is a difference between vented and non vented as the template is for vented discs. My wheels curve in massively towards the spokes, that is with a 1973 wheel. I will go and check on a 1977 wheel now and see if it's different.

Just checked the 77 rim and it's very different, there is loads of space inside it and the template easily clears. As I have 4 1973 rims and one 1977 that doesn't really help me a lot but it does solve the confusion. |
