My searching skills have failed me.

Just wondering if anyone has used a booster water pump (such at the type found on renaults) to run for say 5-10mins after shutdown to prevent heat soak issues (currenly getting this with the van)

And if so how did you do it?

Cheers,
John

I've seen that looks like a decent way to do it. However don't fancy swapping the metro's bonnet everytime we shut it down.

I guess we could do with a booster type pump in the bottom hose to drive the coolant around aftershutdown and keep the fan running.

Would just keeping the fan running for a few minutes after shutdown help? It would at least promote a little bit of natural circulation.

already do that problem is water in the block and head continues to heat up. Sometimes to the point where the overheat light comes on.

Near Paris - France

Renault booster pump fit on small hoses, the heater size approximately so that would require T pieces to work or maybe a dedicated rad in the wing or something like that ...

I would opt for a full flow eletric pump to move a worthwhile amount of coolant.
I don't know where to find one thought ...

Here is a couple of pictures of the auxiliary water pump on my VW Transporter van Rob was talking about.

The inlet/outlet are 20mm dia, I've no idea on how much it flows or power consumption. It's not exactly cheap at about £90.00. Part number is 7H0 065 561.

I have one of those somewhere in the garage I have not use and will not have any need for. If you are sure its what you are after when you have made your mind up, I will sell it for much less than £90 lol. The connector is a funny one though

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I just got a bosch one of egay. Brand new, lotus packaged with 19mm tails (which matches some of the pipe work on my mini quite nicely).

I plan to put a metro sandwich plate under the thermostat then have the pump circulate between there and the heater return on the bottom hose. It will be wired up with a timed relay so that it runs on after the engine goes of, so I should be able to get a reasonable flow of coolant round the engine and avoid heat soak issues after shut down and in traffic etc. That's the theory anyway.
