The A/F Size of the Nut is 1 5/16" AF. The Thread is a special.

Generally they are 1 5/16" A/F (ie inch and five sixteenths) but I think some of the later cars changed to a smaller nut, possibly 1" A/F

Its a big one, thanks chaps , my socket set dosnt go that big,off to halfrauds .

'tis a handy socket to have - fits tower mounts and front hub nuts too (unless you have the later 34mm A/F ones).

be carefull removing the nut never had much success always seems to snag and destroy the threads on the column, happened twice now in 2 attempts

You can check the stock online now which is useful, it doesn't look like they stock it though. The staff in my local halfords are useless, one of them asked me if I knew what PAS stood for once!

A 3/4 whit spanner also fits that nut, which may or may not be relevant.
