hi, youll have to forgive me if this is a rather obvious question, but this is the first time i have done any sort of engine dismantling.

i removed the head today, in order to fit up a turbo head, when i get it, the cylinders were full of water, should this happen? and the tops of the pistons seemed pretty charred, i am assuming that this isnt right is it? also, there didn't seem to be a head gasket, which i thought was pretty strange.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

well when you removed the head the residue of coolent enterd the bores

if you look closley you will find a head gasket firmley bonded to the head or the block ?
its unlikley not to have a head gasket!?

the charing burnt on top of the pistons will be normal if the engines done some miles

its not to say that the engines ok though

ok, cool. cheers mate.

what is the best bet, just to give the top of the pistons a bit of a clean up, and hope for the best as i dont really want to dismantle the hole engine at this stage, as i hope to build a new bottom end in the not too distant future
