Hi All,
I am fitting a metro rad to my clumban and i seam to have enough room to mount the oil cooler below it.

Can you hang an oil cooler upside down ?
(ie with the pipes down at the bottom)

With thanks Alex

If it was upside down before you first use it, then i expect that you might get an air lock in there.

If you're determined to do it then fill it with oil and run for a bit with it the right way up then mount it upside down.

You have to ask yourself - is it really necessary to have an oil cooler, and if so is there anywhere else you could mount it.

I've seen a few sideways by the flywheel housing.

Yes i do need a oil cooler (it will be a race car and not on the road much) An air lock is what i was thinking and i dont whant to be removing it every time i change the oil. I have bags of room under the rad in front of the lower ft panel openings. It just thought it would be easier than making an other mounting (one for the rad & one for the cooler)*oh well*

I've got a race car, and I don't run a cooler... What's your temps?

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Alex , most people dont run them, but the main answer given is fit a gauge then monitor your temps to see.

Mine is mounted upside down and sits just infront of my rocker cover (very old school I know). the problem you may have is emptying the cooler & pipes at oil changes.
