well pooped out after the weekend , but it was a good time and well worth while !

spent the days before in 30 degrees changing the front hubs and brakes to run the 10 inch rostyles id scrounged ,and nics old 32's and then making some ally doors .....and.... shimming them up ,oh what fun that was.

hoicked out the interior and spare tyre etc , weighed it at 620 kg with prettty empty tank ..

then found the cd autothingy was a huge 3.5 kg so out that came.. and the rostyles were a bit lighter than the revs so , i reckon at 615 kg ..
oh i forgot ,made a side pipe out of old moto gp pipes and thats prob a couple of kgs off so at around 613 kg i reckon ,then with a gallon around 617 kg ?

off i went friday morning at 6am to gatwick to get veronica ,who bravely with no sleep for about 48 hours came to avon with me .

we got home ,had an nap ,packed up the cars and got to avon around 9.30 friday night ,then tent and sleep ,oh and a bit of chatting to the usual suspects lol.

saturday was a hot breezy day ,stuck on the 10,s and side pipe ,
and we all rushed off to get numbers and all that malarky,then off to the track ,fairish qeue,bit not too bad ..

first run ,what i thought was 16 psi , so was expecting around 13.7 with the lighter weight ,
was a

14.025@106.15 next was 14.004@105.5 hmmmm*frown**frown*

stopped for lunch and checked logs ,,14psi!!!! :):) happy again ,so openned up bleed to max for next runs ,wanna know what happened next ,....well do ya? huh ?huh ?

well , first run definately felt a bit more punchy ,especially in 2nd gear as i flicked the boost from 5 to 16 ,scrabbling for grip ,big wheelspin through 2nd ,result was a

13.575@109.67:)

came back the pits with veronica john and his son steven looking most elated !
so this was more like it ,
next run flicked into high boost top of 1st ,then ran a

13.37@109.33 mph

noice!!


im using the choke to richen it up in 3rd and 4th ,and definately feel a surge if i push the choke in a bit and go from around 12.1 to 12.9 to 1 afr .hmmm .

so evening was spent chatting to everyone ,and looking at keiths stonko mk1..etc .

next day was a bit windy ,but nice too ,and off we went again , i rashly bought a higher flowing bleed valve from phil , i think it was made of gold it was so shiny , i can see phil at home polishing these valves with his tongue ,going, ''hmmm my precious yessss you willll bleed offf booosssttt''

so i wapped that on and,, oh my ,!!,im not really used to seeing the boost guage showing near on 25 psi !*surprised* lol

frantically turned it down on the run whilst keeping it off the rails with one hand in 2nd gear ,nic said he could hear my tyres spinning all through 2nd ,but it felt pretty grippy and fast and a bit ballistic to be honest ,came back around ,and big grinning veronica said ,did that feel fast ,? holding my timing sheet ,and i said hmm quite fast ,

13.28@112.1mph ,

even noicer !

boost looged a pk of 22psi ,then down after it settled to 19.3 as i crossed the line .no detonation no drama really .
went on to run 13.4's from then on ,all at 112 mph .

my best possible from all the runs is 13.104s at 112.1 mph .:)

with an open diff i was finding grip a problem on launch and up to 3rd ish .best 60 ft was 2.311 ,worst was 2.62

so then got a little shiny trophy doofah ,and packed all up and off to home ..

commiserations to nic who got a bit of a compression drop on what sounds like 2 cylinders ,so hopefully thatll be an easy fix , i didnt get the see david in the a35 but according to richard he was happy ,,denis annihilated his liner ,but was typically up beat and ran 12.5 on 15 psi and slow changes so thats scary fast really ,and jim had awfull traction but still got a 12 .



oh amazing amount of people asking is veronicas mk1 here lol, it will be at mitp !

oh i forgot mattys adventures ,what a blimmen saga ,poor bloke ,came up on sat ,smoke and oil in car etc ,breathers not connected up right ,he got that sorted ,then we went onut in in to try to stop the hard cut rev limit ,and play with boost level ,BLIMEY!!*surprised* 22 psi in that thing is ballistic .! as usual in the other lane up against the hedge ..... unfortunately all sorts of probs on the track reared thier ugly heads ,but the potential is huge the id say ..stick at it matt.

matt woods ,ran a 13.25 on saturday ,then said i hope you run quicker than me on the sunday robert ,so i wont regret having to work and losing 3rd place ,but in the end i was 4 hundreds slower and 2 mph less than mattt ,so he could have got a shiny little dish thing if hed only run !!poor little button!

all in all a hoot and good fun .

Was impressed by your quick run it looked very strong, haven't your traps gone up quite a bit from last year?

Sorry we did not get to see each other Robert -saw your car both in the fire up lane and on the strip and you even parked beside me !
I got 16.64/81.58 compared to last years 17.29/76.4 so quite chuffed especially as I left the line before the T5 on my first run and beat him by nearly 4 seconds.Andy and Johns Metrovan is amazing -14.6 !!
Need more horsepower for MITP.

Robert an excellent write up as always, I think you get it spot on with the atmosphere of the weekend!

Fantastic time for you and I'm sure there is a 12sec in there. Always good to catch up with you and V, think she has a soft spot for my car.... It'll be good to see her Mk1 at Santa Pod.

thank you kieth and tony , i was blimmen suprised at the lower tickets , first thing i said to v was ''where on earth did that come from '
strangely , it was the saturdays 14 second runs that felt fast ,probably due to the effect of not having driven it at that weight in anger before .
the 13.28 felt a touch animalistic in 2nd as i tried to turn boost down, pull out the choke ,avoid the right hand guard rail ,and watch the boost guage lol
