It might be just me, but does anyone else have those days when your working on your car n nothing seems to go right?!

I was pissing around trying to finally get my engine working and nothing went right. every time i dropped the spanner it never seemed to fall to the floor, it always landed on the subframe out of sight or got wedged out of sight in the gear linkage!

I was messing about for 7 hours it still didn't run!*evil*

What is that mark on the pulley for? because i thought that should be inline with the timing marks on the timing chain cover when the piston is at TDC?!!

I went home on my lunch today after my mate told me not to worry about it not lining up and i got it started first time -but that mark doesn't seem to be doing/marking anything still!!

Anyone know what its there for?

Make sure its the correct TDC, there are effectivly two in the cylinders cycle.

The one you want is after the inlet valve closes and the piston rises to the top, if you get the other one (180degrees out) this will be just before the inlet opens (just after it kicks out the exhaust gasses).

To make my marks show up on the strobe i use a bit of tippex in on the pully so it shows up well!
