well ive just installed my first turbo all went ok however when ive come to start it im having problems keeping it running

its as if once you rev it it runs out of petrol and stalls

ive set the fuel pressure to around 4psi using the boost gauge

starts fine and ticks over ok but the moment it starts to rev it cuts out or when you let go of the throttle it just stalls straight away

any ideas folks

also the boost gauge isnt giving even 2-3 psi boost but sounds to be whiring away

Got a bit of advice and...

it now starts and runs ticks over ok bit lumpy due to the 266 cam but still ok revs fine and will hold great at higher revs for 2-3 mins fine problem is when you let the throttle off it falls back down the rev range and stalls (even with the tickover set at 1500rpm). ive filled the dashpot with 15-40w oil. only other thing ive noticed is that when try to start it sounds very advanced almost firing before tdc. however timing hasnt been changed since it was running as a NA 1380 engine.

when i connected the lean out pipe into the inlet manifold pipe it started sucking petrol out of the carb and drowned the engine out so just blanked it but it ran better when left open

runs reasonably ok just stalls when drops from high revs to tickover

petrols not running out to the carb as the clear pipe never runs out. Also you can run at full throttle and vary the throttle for ages but when you rev it up and let the throttle just drop back to tickover it stalls and wont even re rev when revs get low.
Any ideas as its anoying me now

Any ideas

thanks

Shaz

Have you got a showing the carb plumbing?

The lean off pipe needs to either be connected to the pipe on the carb closest to the inlet manifold, or bothe ends block off.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Could be ignition related. What are you using for ignition? Turbo dizzy or megajolt etc?

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.
