mains bolts too long?

my new mains bolts are a little to long in my opinion
or rather my strap is too thin, it measures 1.000 inch x 0.750 inch
first pic shows the bolt bottomed out in the block,
second pic shows it turned 8 flats back ( ie 1 1/3 turns)



whats your opinion?

I'd get a thicker strap.

Carl or Steve should be able to sort you a 1"x1" strap out.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I had a similar issue using Carl's bolts but only on one of the holes (Leyland couldn't even drill/tap both the holes the same depth).

My simple rule of thumb was if they gripped the strap without the washer they would obviously be fine once the washer was used.

One didn't so I just machined a couple of threads off the ends of both (I did both in case they ever get swapped around in the future).

Carl supplied me with bolts and a strap - my strap is 1 x 1 from memory

my hacksaw blade broke just looking at these bolts, there beauties
i think a 1x1 strap is in order then
