Hi, I'm JJ and this is my mini:

Currently a 998 with a stage one kit and megajolt ignition. (really proud of my megajolt install!) However, as a summer project I've decided to build a 998 t2 turbo engine, and maybe fit it next year once the insurance is due for renewal.

Hopefully I can pick up a complete 998 engine in the next few weeks, strip it down and rebuild from there. Initial thoughts are:

998 A+ block, rebore to suitable next size, pocketed, suitable pistons?
12g940 head, chambers opened out to reduce CR
reground crank, balance along with rods? centre main strap.
duplex timing chain
cam? need advice, na MG metro or standard 998
metro turbo inlet and exhaust manifolds, metro turbo carb
clutch? not sure which to go with
t2 turbo, metro manifold adapted to suit.
small intercooler
unusure on gearbox spec, not sure what power this spec could produce.

But enough of that, just popping in to say hi! Cheers, JJ

Thanks guys, I've been searching the forum for a few days now, as nearly every question I've thought of has been asked and answered already. :)

Looking forward to starting the build!

Welcome to TM.

In answer to your questions my personal thoughts are.

N/A MG Metro Cam
Rebuilt Helical Box
X-Pin Diff
Helical Drops
Pre-Verto clutch with orange spring or an RTS ckutch (you'll have to do a search about the latter *wink* )

Its worth looking for a 12G295 head, as you won't need to pocket the block.

Thanks guys, I thought about a 12g295, but they are getting harder to get hold of and are quite alot more expensive than a 12g940. Pocketing the block doesn't seem to bad to me.

Thanks
