yet again feeble is not online atm and asked a few questions, so here goes, lol
when accelerating and it comes on boost we hear a clicking noise coming from the turbo sort of area, its DEFFONATLY not the ecu...cos i have heard that before and besides, it doesent have it on, lol with the MBC on 2 turns it makes indicted (sometimes as the boost guage seems to be knackerd) 5psi and does it a lot more than if you screw it right in so it makes no boost (well rests ont he actuator see) it doesent 'click' it is verry verry hard to explain and its only relaly started about a week ago, anyone any ideas? it doesent seem ot be a problem just a general queary, lol

cheers, Dan

ITs hard to tell a noise over txt and i struggled to make sense of your post,

But it sounds like pinking/pre detanation or whatever its called.

Tell him to turn the boost valve down and check the timing and mixture before he melts something.

Or the fan could be hitting something who knows!!!!

never thought of det/pinking, i know what they are and things but i have never heard it and known what it was so i really cant say, i am sorry my post was hard to understand.
i will ring him now and tell him to turn the boost right down.

thanks, Dan

ok, spoke to jim and he pointed a few things out, he has recently reset timing (7deg BTDC at 1500rpm vac disconected) and has started using lead replacement and octane booster and it has made a noticable difference he said and this seems ot be whent he clicking started, it has been doing it for a while nowcou these be linked in any way tho, doesent detonation kill an engine pretty quick like?

cheers, Dan

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

Detonation is equivalent to taking a burning torch, ball peen hammer and to apply these to the tops of your pistons with vengeance,
(even that?s an understatement!)

Mine did the same clicking noise, and then the head gasket was gone:

Feebs has just had the head off hasnt he, i hope he put it back together properly.

Easiest way to check would be with a compression tester, they are available from halfrauds - so he'll get staff discount!

Or a thought occures - you mentioned his boost +actuator,

If the preload is not set properly on the actuator could it be flapping about and clicking?? This would also explain only being able to get about 5psi out of the mbc

he has just done the head gasket yes, he has done loads before so should be right but wont rule it out. he bought a compression tester just last week i tihnk dont think he used it yet but i will mention it.
it defoantly sounds like the actuator to me, flapping around or something but its hard to check?
i am GUESSING we could get more than 5psi, its just on 2 turns of the MBC it is verry verry fast and shows 5 psi and darent go any more, lol if it really is boosting at 5 i cant wait to see 7.
he has been to well lane turbos today for a roaling road tune but i have not heard the verdict yet i will report as soon as i hear tho! thanks, Dan

Been to wel lane today, he got it boosting at 10psi but it was running too lean top end, so its back down to 6psi, so the boost goes up ok. i wasnt sure if my actuator was working or all the boost being on the mbc or something. I basically have my mbc connected in between the actuator and the turbo hoses inline :) Ive greased up the rod on the actuator etc but it still does it, see my post in general chat for how the rolling road went, it didnt do this up until a week ago.
