I was advised that the maximum gap between the reluctor pickup and the trigger wheel tooth should be as close as possible but less than .010" 0r .5mm?

The engine runs great with this gap of .010" but somehow the bracket moves during use and the gap increases to .040 or more and the engine starts missfiring.

Is .01" really the max gap? Do you use and adjustable bracket to mount the sensor and how do you insure the gap doesn't change.

Thanks

normaly max gap is 0.9mm, 1mm for arguments sake, but if the bracket is moving, it needs strengthening or fixing dowm better

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Thanks, 1mm or .039" seems easier to maintain than the .01" we were using.
Last night we observed what was happening when the engine was running to see what was moving . We learned that the water pump/fan belt actually expands to hit and move the Reluctor bracket arm under hard engine acceleration. Hoping w can find a solution without having to pull the engine again :(
