Hi guys hope you can help.

I've stripped the head right down & need to purchase new valves & guides, who do you recommend to purchase them from???

Also what grade material for each, 21NS stainless Valves, what Dia & matching bronze guides?

Do i need to fit new valve seats?

Great site & many thanks.

You will need to recut the valve seats if fitting new guides. If the valve seats are quite worn you could install a larger valve to help reclaim the seat.
What is the head used for & what is the current spec ? This will dictate whether you need to go to the extent of the stainless valves & bronze guides.

Head is currently a standard turbo head, stripped it down this afternoon & found a bit of wear in the guides.
I'm in the very early stages of a 1293 fast road build, what do you recommend for valve sizes??

I run a machine shop so cutting new seats, fitting guides, skimming & porting is no problem, will be making my own mainfold to take a T2 turbo when i can source one.

My heads at work, can you tell me the distance between centres of the valves (Before any offset) in each chamber & are all 4 pairs the same???, I'm looking into CNC milling the chambers & need to cad the profile to work out the cc.

For a basic fast road head I'd put a larger 35.7mm inlet in, the standard ex size can be retained if the seats useable. All valve spacings are equal as accurate as they were machined by BL ...

Do you know what that spacing is??? if not I'll have to wait till Monday.

Valve seat looks ok but can I cut 3 angles on a standard seat or will i need to go bigger?

thanks for your help Phil.

I don't know offhand sorry. It's difficult to get a proper 3 angle seat on the standard size ex, going to a 30 or 31 will make it possible, but 31mm leaves little between the valves.

For someone who rums a machine shop you sure do ask questions akin to a complete beginer .

just an observation,.

Surely this is what the site is for asking questions & getting advice from people like Phil who are far more expericenced than me.

If you want to start talking about down hole oil tool logging & the machinability of inconel 718 then I wont sound like a novice, everyone specializes in a certain field & until I'm better educated I'll ask for what i think is expert advice.

I asked who you purchase the parts from as I've had problems from certain suppliers & a few currently have a bad name.

Head is at work so I cant measure it so asked.

Please dont take any of the above as a moan I'm just trying to explain but it's come across wrong.
