SouthPark, Colorado

150 (ish) BHP, 160 (ish) lb ft torque. Mapped to run on Optimax, but also have ?soft? map for normal unleaded. 16psi max boost. Best 1/4 on road tyres: 13.856 @100.2mph (runs consistent 14.0/14.2 secs).

As you asked for the spec, here it is. Naturally I don't make reference to the many small things that go into a properly built, blueprinted engine, but this'll give you an idea.

Block:
1293 using cast omega turbo pistons. Balanced and (lightly) polished turbo rods, ARP rod bolts. Std turbo crank (not even reground). A+ (centre tang) block with surface ground centre strap. Ford Zetec undercrown cooling jets fitted (essential for piston reliability), block deck surface ground. Avonbar phase 2 cam @ 108 degrees rather than 110 (reckoned to be better low/midrange for a slight drop in outright bhp). Plain duplex drive using offset woodruff keys.

Head:
Self modified. Modified chambers for low CR, fair bit of metal left around exhaust guides in the ports for heat absorbtion, std port diameters for increased airspeed, std turbo sodium exhaust valves (29mm) with unleaded seats, MG sized inlets (35.6mm?), surface ground face for flatness, std Rover 1275 A+ headgasket, std a+ headstuds, 1.25 s rockers.

Turbobits:
Std ex. Manifold, nickel-chromium adapter plate fitted to flange as turbo used is watercooled T2 from R5GT. High capacity braided oil feed pipe (bigger than piddly little one that costs over ?50 from avonbar!).

Gearbox:
Trannex 4sp, Rover baulk rings, Trannex 4 pin diff, 3.44 ratio, 1:1 s/c drops, turbo transfer hsg with larger primary nose bearing, rear of box modified for turbo return pipe as T2 actually sits lower than T3 (!), HT capheads (1/4" - std size) used engine to box mating.

Other transmission bits:
Steel u/l flywheel, 270 backplate (23.8mm lug height), grey clutch (all balanced naturally), AP organic plate ? all right on the limit of torque capability.
Drilled 'wok' to release heat - essential for the 1/4 mile. Std pot joints, std driveshafts.

Ignition:
DTA fully mapped distributorless ignition using Rover MPi coil block, lumenition leads and Champion plugs (48 thou gaps) ? I will never use NGK again as long as I live!

Induction:
Std. 1 3/4? turbo SU, with hand filed needle and throttle pot, Self made plenum (outlet near m/cyl), self made 2" intercooler pipes, air filter located at front of engine bay

Intercooler:
RST series 2 modified unit sat behind the grill, not half behind grill & half behind bonnet front! (this took a lot of time to get in). Typical air temps seen are as follows:- steady 50mph = 10 degrees c; full boost 50mph = 30 degrees c, max recorded air temp after 1/4 mile run = 38 degrees c. Anything else?

So There, no secrets, no lies. It has taken a very long time and a lot of money to get to this level, having tried Weber Alpha injection, DTA injection, different cams, water injection, etc. All throughout however, the aim has been power with drivability, as this isn?t and never was, a racecar with a tax-disc!

This was this years spec, before it had a little argument with itself !!
Something a little different planned for next year. *wink*

V-Max head, quite heavily ported, 36-29 valves, 27cc chambers.
Standard Turbo head gasket
Uprated head studs
1.5 Ratio roller tip rockers.
Phase 2 cam.
Minispares timing belt conversion.
Hardened Turbo crank, standard 1275cc Turbo pistons + rods. All in really good condition, so no regrinds/rebores etc needed !
Standard T3 Turbo +braided oil pipe
Aldon dizzy
K+N Filter
Maniflow stainless exhaust
Custom alloy front mounted intercooler + samco hoses
Bleed valve, dump valve etc
Electric water pump

Transmission.
JKD SC Box, centre oil pickup, Tran-x LSD + 3.9 cw+p, JKD SC Drops with idler conversion, uprated driveshafts.

Think that's about it ??

Phil.
