I am having a new wiring loom made for my mini as the old one was seriously chopped about. To save me having to chop up a new loom, could anyone tell me what extra wires i need to have put into the new loom that would make wiring in the megajolf unit easier without splicing the new loom to bit. Thanks guys :)

I have a seperate loom for mine makes finding faults easier. I used the power that Ran for the standard coil.

Just get a diagram from autosport labs and work out what you need where.

I did exactly as Star Mag has, however my coil ran with a ballast wire, i.e it gives out 9V when under current load.

I wont recommend it as it's not the best way to wire it up if your coil did run with a ballast wire, but it certainly works. I never had any trouble with it wired this way.

Yeah as Carl says strip the mini loom and replace it with a normal wire. Forgot to mention that!

As above, make a completely seperate loom for it - it makes swapping back to the old system a lot easier if you have to during testing.

WRT the power supply, whether ballast or 12V, I would leave it in place at first and feed your MJ with a brand new wire either from a fused 12v supply at the fusebox or straight from the ignition switch through an in-line fuse. And also put a new independant ground in for both the MJ and EDIS module, don't rely on 20 year old Mini wiring. All this keeps problems of a 20year old loom from affecting your new install.

I'm just embarking on wiring up my MJLJ unit - can anyone recommend a good website to order a variety of wires/cables??

The other two big ones with on-line ordering are AES and VWP
