Hi

I am moving to Leeds at the start of September for a new job. i am going to rent a room for 6 months or so until i find my feet. I live in Manchester atm and i know full well there are many areas i would not like to live, and many areas i cant afford to live.

So to get to my question for any foke that know the city bearing in mind i want to live a max of 5 miles out. do you have any recommend and good places to aim for? and any places to avoid?

Thanks

Leyland, Lancs

Hyde Park and Headingly are fine as long as you don't mind students.

Avoid Little London, Seacroft, and Harehills.

Holbeck is fine, you will always be sure of a shag but you will have to pay*happy*

Beeston has a very heavy ethnic minority community as does Chapletown and Harehills both of these places having said that are not as bad as poeple who have never been make out!

If you want somewhere reasonable then i would try Headingly or Hyde park.

Like anywhere though Leeds is a great place to live if you get it right.

you may struggle with student accomidation, this is something i hit while i was homeless for a bit, up here (and i assume the same applys in england) if a flat is all students, they dont pay council tax, soon as oen non-student mooves in, everyone has to pay council tax!.. so i couldnt get into any student digs.

yea i have come across this, but there a quite a few 'professional' house share websites. Professional seems to be anyone but a student lol, i have a lot of offers already so looks good.
