If I where looking for one of these, I'd buy the cheepest used one I could find and have it reconditioned. I know it woun't be the cheapest way of doing it, but at least you have a known good turbo with warrenty On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

where i used to work we had chiniese copy gt15's come in, visualy they looked similar, not sure if the materials were different though, little things like how the housings were attached to the main body were different, giant circlips instead of bolts etc. As i say, visualy they checked out but im not sure if they still checked out mechanicly David. |

There aren't many moving parts in a turbo so should be simple to copy in theory. What is improtant is the tollerances and the impelor shape.

I've read some stories about these "chinese copies" being taken to turbo re-con companies and them finding them hideously out of balance. And quite often no where near the specification they should be. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

The general problem with lots of Chinese copies is that they tend to simplify parts to make production easier without taking into consideration what it was designed like that in the first place.

I believe GaryOS or Paul H knows of someone running a chinky GT1752. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |
