Went to Well Lane Turbo's today to check my car on the rolling road.
Cost me ?80 for a mixture setting! anyway i found out that my car peaks at 3500rpm, and after that it just bogs down. Theres no power after that really and the torque starts to dip. My maximum power was 87bhp at 5226rpm thats running at 6psi.

Making the boost anything above 6psi made it too lean when under load, but my car was running really rich when i took it in so i wont have done it any damage through that.

Ive ordered some performance silicone plug leads at my work (Halfrauds) and some better plugs & newrotor arm and stuff. I only put them in when dropping the engine in but will change them anyway i only used the old standard ht leads.

The Air filter was another big problem. Mines above the top bracket on the radiator, and he said because of the heat i will be limiting my power massaveley. I will put pics of it up tomorow on the rollers, and also my power graphs.

There you go - a good lesson in taking your mini to a rolling road who understands SU carbs and a-series turbo's...

A decent SU tuner will reprofile the needle as it is very unlikey they will have one that extreme.

Mine is almost hair thin at the bottom.

I'd imagine they just wound the jet down a bit for ?80, i did'nt notice Him mention ingnition.

Baldwin over doubled my power with ingnition optimising alone, although i had retarded it intentionally just to be safe.

well lane turbo in batley west yorkshire !
WELL what can i say, they are a shower of WANKERS to say the least *angry*

in over 20 years, every one i have spoken to says they just put the motor on the rollers and bray the hell out of it, the only adjustment i have heard is optamising the ignition by "only" turning the distrib for peak power and when the punter goes on the road it drives like a bag of shite. i cant belive it!*angry*

these shower of inept cowboys should be horse whiped.

peter baldwins the guy, cival nice man who know the score and "wont ripp you off". *happy*

having said that watsons at wakefield knows the a series inside out and can accuratley reprofile the needle and sort the the lot,
jeff is the guy so only let him near your motor

I think we should have a hall of shame section on this website for the so called specialist rolling road tuners,

art engineering rolling road at wakefield west yorkshire is in the same camp as well lane turbos...................*angry*

after we have spent massive amounts of time, money, blood sweat and tears on or motors, the last thing we need is some inept ding dong ripping us off and not sorting the motor properly to its full potential.

iam sorry for the strong words but it needs to be said.

lets have a hall of shame for these so called rolling road companys. i feel so strongley about this.

I went to one rolling road where they got two members of staff to sit on my wings to stop the wheels spinning up, just coz they could'nt be arsed to strap it down properly.

Thet got the right arse when i stopped them so not to dent my mint(at the time)wings.

it was on/off/pay/next one on affair.

i did'nt go back!

ALEX B lets have a hall of shame section.
and a hall excellence for RR companys

it would save mass money, time, Anxiety,
we would be going to the guy who knows the score

like giallofly says peter baldwin "doubled" my power with the ignition optamising alone:

what can i say guys.
you would get the very best from your motor
and thats what its about.

It is an idea but it opens up for people to just complain because they did'nt get the result they expected...

maybe just stick to good feedback.

I did'nt mention the tuner i was upset with!

4lan jeffery, plymouth..oops, popped out!
