Can anyone help me with the exact size / measurement between the door sills? Ideally I need the measurement between the lip that the seal fits on (the seam with the inner sill and door step). Preferebly nearer the back of the car. I am about to fit a new door step to the drivers side of my car. But no matter what doors I have had on in the past the door step at the bottom corner has always sat in by about 5mm. I just want to check the size before I go refitting everythin in the exact same place.

Thanks

1270mm on one shell, 1271mm on the other. The second has had new inner sills (fitted by someone else) so I would go with 1270, the difference is only 1mm and 1270 happens to be exactly 50".

The distance is the same front and back of the opennings - the inner sills are parallel.

Mini outer sills are curved to match the body shape so with parallel inner sills the door steps are tapered front to back. This means the left one is a mirror image of the right one but the difference is only about 2-3mm front to back so hard to spot.

Is it possible someone fitted the wrong one in the past ??? a 2-3mm taper the wrong way around would account for 5mm.

EDIT - I'm assuming a MK2 onwards shell, the Mk1 "may" be different as the inner sills weren't folded as part of the floorpan.

Thanks Rod, I will get into the garage tomorrow and check it. I am a bit like you the car has had sills in the past (not fitted by me) so just want to check everything over
