Evening all. I've done some searching for metal paints (ie Hammerite) on internet for various colours. I'm looking for Purple and can't find any anywhere. I've recently got my hands on another mini for the missus and I'm going for a black and purple theme. The shell will be black but much of the running gear (radius arms, top arms, bottom arms) will be purple. I would prefer powder coating stuff but want to keep the cost of things down. I think that something like hammerite would be my best option. Also does anyone know if mixing blue and red hammerite would react with each other to make purple or would it produce some bizzare colour. *happy*

You could allways go to your local paint factors and get some 2k and brush it on.
You can have any colour you want then

Yep, all new paint is 2k (2pack) eg the lacquer on all cars.

Its only the ground colour under the laquer that is waterbased on modern cars.

In your case you can get 2k solid colour so basicly the laquer is tinted the colour of the car, the reason that stopped was things like reds that fadded (down to lead content in the paint) so now everything is clear laquerd over.

ps, it would want mixing with a hardner say 2:1 then it would dry within a few hours

If you do the prep properly on the stuff to be coated it shouldn't cost too much to powdercoat.

I spent a fortune on paint that 10 months later might as well not be there, but the stuff I powder coated with one of those DIY kits still looks good.

or do a search for rustoleum, they will mix it up to any RAL colour for you.

Acid concrete cleaner is the nuts for cleaning parts, gets rid of all the rust and leaves a nice clean metal surface.

If you try this method, wash it in water after and give a light coat of oil if you are not going to paint it right away *wink*
