I have a miniy city on which i have spent a clean fortune, new inner and outer sills, whole new front end, new floor pan including boot and also double skinned floors . I could go on lol. I now have the car at painters which is looking pretty costly too. The painter says he cannot gaurantee rust wont come through a year or two down the line. I am shocked as i thought it would take years and years before any sign of rust. I am planning on keeping the car hence the big spend on it with no corners cut. Anyone know whats the best way to stop rust? i considererd ecoationg but at a cost of 2000 i couldnt warrent it. There has to be some way other than ecoating to stop the dreaded rust completly?. any stories or experiancee greatly appreciated. thx in advance for any replys.

keeping it in a heated garage is the only way really, waxing also helps imo

but, if its sat out all year, tbh, unfortunately its enevitable

Il be keeping it right beside the boiler in the garage. It will neverbe sat out over night, im hoping not to ever be in the rain with it too lol. but im certainly not going to look at it all year like a dickhead either....

You need to get the dorr hinge panel lower A post and the iner face of the A panel painted, then seal all the joins, corners and folds in the door hinge area even at the door step. Also paint seal and paint where the inner wheel arch meets the A panel.

But even this wont stop the rust totally. I strip my car every two years and still have to polish and sand blast the front panel and the usual suspects. You just have to keep on top of it.

Cheers for all the replys guys!, was checking this product out at the weekend its called rust bullet and they have a 10 year guarentee against rust coming through. I think it would be hard to claim it lol. Looks real good stuff though. type it in google theres loads of good reviews about it. anyone heard or used it?
