Having fitted a gunsons lo-guage to carb fuel inlet hose to check fuel pressure, i can only get a constant reading at 2.5-3psi. When the regulator is adjusted to anything over this the fuel pressure is very erratic. I have replaced the diaphram in the regulator and cant see anything else on them that can cause a problem, there are no restriction in my return line and i run 8mm feed and 10mm return. I have two 8mm outlets from tank, these then pass through filters and then connect to a t-piece with a 12mm outlet to supply pump. Both filters seem to have air bubbles in them- is this normal?? Also when the fuel pressure is going mad the fuel returning to the tank surges back in rather than a nice constant flow. Any ideas?? -MINI CLUBMAN 1380 TURBO- |

Could be the filters. If they are a bit blocked up they could cause you trouble. You can also get fuel vapour entering your pump if they aint flowing to well.

Got this problem sorted now, air in the fuel line from regulator to guage. I held the guage below the level of the regulator, tapped the regulator until all the air escaped and got me constant fuel pressure back. Surprised no one else has had this happen before but it was probably me being a dip s*it.
