Evenings chaps, I've wired up my nippon denso alternator this morning, and I'm having a few issues!

This is how I've wired it in:

As far as I can tell, this matches this diagram:

Although the plug shape is different, the pins are the same.

The two larger brown wires (both from the solenoid) onto the 'B' output terminal of the alternator.

THe brown/yellow warning lamp wire into the 'L' terminal of the alternator as per TD's thread,

THe grey wire in my pic is a temporary 12v ignition switched feed from the fuse box onito the 'IG' terminal of the alt, again as per TD's thread.

The 'S' battery sense terminal isn't connected, just like everyone else.

The problem is, although the ignition light comes on with ignition, then goes off when started, the voltage output from the alternator was absolutely crazy, up and down from 10-19 volts maybe 10 times a second! it was as if it was unregulated.

After a quick search on a few forums, I tried connecting the 'S' volate sensing temrinal to a 12v feed, but this hasn't helped, and the alt got really hot to touch. Now the charge light doesn't work at all. and it's still putting out a stupid varying voltage.

Matty thinks I may be unlucky enough to get the first faulty ND alt he's sold.

I just wanted an approval on my wiring before I wire up another alternator and risk doing the same again!

Cheers

Nick

also it will be worth while getting a long bolt not all thread between the water pump and alternator bracket as you may find the water pump were it bolts to the alternator will crack
