Hi all
I have been given an engine/box but I am not 100 % sure what it is, I think it is a 1275 A+ from a metro but I was hoping you guys could confirm if I give you sum numbers
engine: 12H907AA-53428
Carb is an SU but I'm not sure what size or type, has fzx1409, lzx1511 and jzx 1611 stamped on various bits (think it is a 1 3/4 HIF but not sure)
The gearbox/sump thinggy has Dam 5626 8E672 WYF stamped on it
any info would be great
cheers
mark

12H at the beginning of engine number means a 1275. Su should also be a 1 3/4" just measure bore.

Cheers guys, so I am looking at a metro lump 1275 leaded only with about 57bhp standard form, is that right??
I want to aim for about 100bhp, is this easy enough with this lump??

I thought it was more like 62/63hp for the stock metro 1275 lump...

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

100bhp takes a fair chunk of money in NA form, forced induction makes it easier to hit those sorts of levels.

My 1380 is running 100bhp and its been fairly well worked by AC.

any unit can be built to whatever spec you need. MG's are a good base for NA but pistons arent any good for forced induction so budget for those

they changed the main bearing design to the "turbo" one on all 1275's. not sure what else though.

Cheers all, perhapse you can give me an idea of bhp/performance from this engine.
I am planning on keeping the 1275cc but going for stage 3 head, balanced and lightened bottom end and lightened fly wheel, coupled to a Kent (think its a 726 but may be wrong on the model) cam, 1 3/4 SU with ram pipe and K&N Induction, high torque inlet manifold and maniflow outlet to a straight through exhaust.
No Alternator and in a car that will weigh in at around 350-400kg
All sugestions welcome
cheers

350- 400kg's is very light for a mini, what have you done to it to make it that light

Well set up I would estimate 90bhp or so from that engine spec. With a stage 3 head, a 276 cam is a bit tame especially if its a race car. I used to have a 286 cam in a road car.........so think about your cam choice.

The performance you will get from that engine in a car weighing 350-400kg will be pretty damn sharp. Should be nicely over 200bhp per tonne:)
