Ive got one of the old style prefab garages with the asbestos corrigated roofs and its starting bloody leaking!

Whats the best way of sealing it up without disturbing it too much? I can't quite work out where its leaking yet, but I think during a heavy down poor it leaks between the roof panels where they overlap.

Cheers
Matt

we have the same type of garage with the same problem. a bit of expanding foam fixed it for us.

Yep I fixed mine with expanding foam and underseal, both of which I had handy at the time and it worked a treat untill I replaced it.

Expanding foam it is then. Did you apply it to the inside or out?

how old is the roof? these normally split along the position of the fixings and these can be the point of ingress.

see if you can get hold of some acropol - its used to bodge all sorts of stuff by contractors and seals even when submerged in water; it can also be reinforces with some glass matting

I wouldn't use it as a propser repair but it will do the job

I just put it in where I had access and then painted it with underseal. I did have a big crack to fill in one place though.

My house was built in the 50's so more than likely absestos!

I'll have a look into that acropol Rob. Something that could be brushed on would be ideal, as I want to keep it as mess free as possible!

acropol is brush on - you should get it or an equivalent from the builders merchants

If you have the budget - just lay a new plastic coated steel roof on top of the old one. As good as re-roofing withou the hassle of getting rid of (or disturbing) the asbestos.

I have used this on my garage to replace the asbestos.

Cheap and really easy to use.

If the profile matches you don't need to remove the old.

The profile won't match. Getting rid of my asbestos was very easy. I rang up the council who sent me a permit and I took it down to the tip. It is very easy.
