helical gears and turbo's go together a bit like weedkiller and sugar all ways ends up going bang some were down the line.

mini spares drops with a clubman sccr set should do plus a 4 pin diff you will have a bomb proof gearbox.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

i bet the diff pins gone!.........
if not the idler gear, the bearing in the g/box side is duffed and usually it picks up on the shaft.
if you replased the diff with say a mini spares 4 pin diff, which is the choice of most guys on hear.*smiley* "unbustable"
the actual box is a lot stronger than most people give it credit for

say 120bhp + ish *wink*

engine is a 1293 morspeed engine with piper t2 cam, fully worked crank, omega pistons dished to 18cc, morspeed booster head, 10 psi boost intercooled system. im guessing power to be round 130 140 but not had it r roaded yet, im gutted only drove it 1 hr, the box is only 6 months old, its 2nd gear thats stripped got other gears.

personaly speaking, drops are a first to go in, followed by the 4 pin diff and coming at a close 3rd a sccr set.

but bearing in mind turbo,s will kick out a shed load or torque quiet low in the rev range this is what is a big killer in a gearbox.

the helical gears whether they are the drops or or the gear set try and pull in different directions shagging the 1st and main bearings on the main shaft as well as the lay gear. same goes for the drops. gear casings and transfer casings dont last long even if you put them to the tighter side or the idelr gear endfloat.

i have also seen plenty of stripped input and laygears as well but this is mainly down to rapid starts on the line wheter its at the traffic lights or doing the 1/4 mile.

it all adds up and weras out quickly.
but having said that ben is right a helical box can take 120ish but you would have to be pretty gentle with her at lower speeds as this is when most of the stress can be loaded through the box.

plus i would say also any thing over 130 bhp i would defently fit a pin diff.

Why on earth do you want to buy the cheapest SC kit?? Buy a proper set, if not you'll be in the same situation again.
Helical gears are OK as far as sthrength goes, but the ratios leave little to be desired. I guess BIR1 could vouch for this.
