I think I must have really pissed someone off at Hertz as I got a Kia Carens as a hired car, now ignoring all the usual gripes, the thing that serious pissed me off was that it didn't have a hand break, instead it had a pedal by the left foot to put the parking brake on and a pull release down by my knee to take the brake off, like a lot of big American cars however unlike a lot of big American cars which are automatics the Kia was a manual, making hill starts challenging and crawling up a hill in a stream of stopping and starting traffic next to impossible, how I didn't roll back into the car behind me I don't know. You're supposed to do 'Handbrake on, out of gear'.
I seriously doubt it! |

it's a hire car, you're not driving it properly.

On some cars like this there is an anti-roll back feature for just this type of situation. However, how you find this out on a hire car is anybody's guess. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk
