Hi All,

I've recently rung footman James for an Insurance quote for a 1275 turbo engine for 12 months and been refused. No crashes convictions etc..

I'm 23, any advise from previous experience? Insurance groups to try? Ways round this?

try the others - did you tell them about a cage at all?

hic? my insurance was lowered with my mini when i said i had uprated breaks lol

Yea Essex Steve mentioned HIC too. Yea they asked me about the cage, and were really concerned about back seats!

She said if it was a 1275 cooper engine i would have been fine.

I will start to ring around this week, i just associated Footman James as the most likely for the best quote.

Footman james have always been excellent with me about modifications etc, but as soon as you touch the engine they get upset, an agent told me before how they work it out, it's a certain percentage based on every bhp added, or it was a year ago at least

Go for HIC. I've never had a problem with FJ, but I'm a bit older.

Yea going to ring tomorrow for a quote with HIC. Interesting feedback from Amp, i found it strange they were concerned about the back seats though?

Will try and put the old man on the policy as well and see if that makes a difference.

footman james can suck my balls, half an hour on the phone to then be told we don't insure cars with more than 10hp increase.

Insurance is a joke
but play them off together
Adrian flux cab be ok with minis most of the time

That's strange, mine jumped from 40 odd to 65 and all i got was ripped off on cost, no mention of not covering!

I declared my cage and harnesses and the back seats were never mentioned, maybe i was lucky...

lol Nick! Who are you using at the moment and is your motor N/A or have you got a turbo in it?

Im 22, i found HIC the best they had no issues with all the modifications, and if you have any no claims on a different policy they add a discount for this.

22 - Adrian Flux with the old man on there came to £1090. At least i've got a quote now!

you must live in a bad area, i was paying 500 odd on my turbo mini age 19(just) upto 150bhp iirc, nothing that standard either lol

Adrian Flux is part of HIC which is interesting, so don't waste your time ringing both you'll get the same quote!

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

actually i was insured by both at the same time, the will both quote differently, the trick is when they ask if you have been quoted by the other say no.
