see if this works....

looking at some old pics of the engine it had a bullet type connector on it. would it be ok to use the dizzy from my norm asp as that has the ignition pack built onto the side, rather than this type i have being seperate.

hmmm never seen one of those lol

I just realised I must be running a NA dissy Metro dizzy.

It works, but you can bet the advance curve is wrong...

There is two types of turbo dizzy. Both of which ive had.

That is the Mk1 dizzy and is supposed to have the best advance curve out of all of them.

I have one at home ill look out and see what connects where!

They did do a turbo dizzy with ignition pack on the side on the later metro turbo's.

If purely to get running then the NA should be ok but get it sorted asap by somebody who knows what they are doing. i.e. dont use the car with any boost.

Ive got the aldon modified version of the mk1, i bought it off somebdoy from here so i havent used it yet but ill see how it goes. *happy*

I used my std mg dissy at 0.5 bar of boost!!!

althought I was running less advance at 1500 rpm to be on the safe side anyway!

A rolling road setup is the only way to know what curve you need!

thanks for the help guys. if i were to use the Mk1 as in the picture, does it need to be bolted to anything metal? as it was connected to the radiator/fan bracket when i got the engine. also if you could find out where that black wire goes iain that would be a great help. i think it would work on the two normal pos and neg wires

Ill check the connections tomorrow.

Needs to be on something metal to act as a heatsink.

Mines and a nice bit of alloy. Looks pretty trick. Its a standard bit as it has ducliller (sp?) etched onto it properly.

Ill take a pic of it tomorrow

Ive had a look at mine and cant quite figure it out at the minute! Hmm bit of a strange one though. Its only the same module as used on the later cars so it cant do much. Id just try it and see what happens.
