is it just me, or are these things a nightmare.

i spent about an hour and a half outside today with the sledge hammer, and broke the ball joint remover in the process. i ended up using a massive chisel we have been using to cut the paving slams.

surely there is an easier way!

Any ideas??

cheers

you mean BJ splitter????

I use the 'fork' type, never have any real problems. Some of the fork types are useless however, too high a 'wedge angle' and the forks are too far apart. Far from ideal for a mini BJ.

Hammer the forks on the splitter back together now'n again.

If all else fails get a trolley jack inbetween top and bottom arms for a bit more pressure

Have done really awkward ones on other cars before and gone at it full bore using loads a Wd40, bj splitter, big hammer and someone else with a big lever bar on bottom/top arm. Even if they havent been touched for years there's always a way of making them surrender!!

Give the eye that the balljoint taper locates in a good pisser with a hammer. Works a treat usually but you need a good aim and also it needs to be a pisser and not a tap......
