Hmmmm.....

The Spi ECU and associated wiring is for fuel injection. Fairly basic fuel injection, but fuel injection all the same.

The Metro turbo engine uses a pressurised SU carburettor.

Basically NO.......

If you intend to use a standard Metro Turbo engine, just install it in its standard form as found in the Metro.

Re. your other questions, that will involve modifying the wiring loom, ie, taking the Spi injection ECU bits out and adding the bits for the Metro dizzy, but nothing too difficult.

Well basically the bit off the Metro loom.

The Metro Turbo (and most of the 1275 Metros) used an electronic dizzy and a coil designed for electronic ignition.

There was a small "loom" that connected these together (actually just a pair of colour coded wires).

Then all you need is to feed 12V to the right connector on the coil.

Your best bet is to get a Haynes or download/buy a copy of "Rave" (Rover's manuals) and compare the wiring diagrams. There are a lot of wires on the SPI that simply aren't needed if you use a carb, but the number of extras you have to add for the carb/dizzy setup are minimal.
