In France, LPG conversion can only be done by professional.

You will have to show the car to some experts to allow it on the road I assume ?

yes ,bored bored bored lol,not a lot , its going well ,definately more powerfull than the tuned 16 valve 1.6 .much more torque .
the little intercooler seems to work well ,had to disconnect the blow off valve ,well reposition it nearer the turbo ,no dramas really , very quiet ,very smooth .5.5 psi boost all in by 2500 ,cam comes in about there too .revs well to 6500 plus .refining the ignition map bit by bit .

How do you adjust injection / ignition ?

the car uses a megajolt ignition ,the lpg is fed through a mixer ring ,so no injection .

now taking another step with this in the light of increasing fuel costs , going megasquirt 2 .

got injectors and vapouriser ,getting the ecu built up for me by mr ms *wink* so a new adventure starts .hoping to go from 24 to 28 mpg to 34 to 38 mpg ...

28 mpg on LPG is not bad..

My GF gets 28 mpg on petrol (gen 2 bini).. she does not like to drive all that much, hence she drives 150 kph all the time.. so it lasts shorter.

is that imperial or us mpg btw..

btw no2.. how did you weld the cast iron manifold ? w. preheating and such?

sorry joost i didn't see this ,

its uk gallons ,4.54 litres ,so not too good .

with the manifold , i had a bit of a grind and a hack at the astra one ,and concluded it was not cast iron ,but cast steel ,so i just welded it with a mig and .6 wire , it seems to have worked well ,so either it is steel and will last or its cast iron and will fall apart noisily on a rainy dark evening 100 miles from anywhere .

new development , i now have a spanky new megasquirt bilt by me top secret electronics expert ,so i have to now work out how to include the lpg temp sensor input into the box ,maybe use the air temp input for that ? and then gettin wirey wiv it .

have to say ,diy autotune have upped thier game with the ally box ,satin black brushed ally with nice white logo ,well spiffy.

whats the function of the LPG temp sensor?

I'm guessing that your injecting gas rather than liquid lpg so the density will vary with temp?

if so thats something I hadnt considered might be an issue with LPG,

obviously if you were to use the 2nd barometric port, it would screw up fueling when your running petrol unless somthing funky was done, I'm thinking that when the switch between petrol and LPG is made there could be a switch to swap between a pair of resistors that would hold the barometric correction at a fixed point for the petrol map, and a temp sensor that will alter it to adjust for lpg densty.

ah but joe me old matey , im only using lpg , i havent used petrol ever , and yes the lpg varies a lot in temperature and so its density and hence mixture varies ,it will run without this ,but apparently the mix flashes allover that palce from 12 to 17 to 1 .

if the 2nd barometric input is a simple varying voltage or resistance , then i could use the temp sensor ,and see where it comes on the graph ,and so work out what temps equate to what pressures etc?

Careful, but I think that the MS barometric is just a correction at start.

MS Forum is down at the moment, so can't check.

EDIT: It should be OK. Baro corr. can be set to either start up or full time if you fit the second input to JS4 or JS5.

robert, my injection setup has a temp sensor in the reducer for water temp, a pressure sensor for evaporated gas pressure which is a differential pressure sensor connected between the injector rail and a manifold pressure source. and a temp sensor for the gas fitted to the fuel rail. i imagine you could run without the water temp sensor as its only used for changeover, but id think the pressure sensor may be handy for diagnostic work, but so long as the evaporators regulator is set correctly it ought not to be needed, so the only thing left is the temp sensor, which if they have the same resistance curve could be wired into the inlet temp sensor wiring and corrections added as necesary. Inlet temp on its own doesnt affect the daily running that much on fuel and as your on gas with no port wall weting it ought to affect it even less. certainly you can calibrate the megasquirt to the sensor in your fuel rail using ice+water and boiling water and a multimeter.

EDIT the baro sensor could then be repurpoused to monitor lpg pressure by simply having baro corrections turned off! so the megasquirt will then datalog both MAP and LPG pressure.

good points denis , i wonder if that will work , its a lot simpler to use the iat for the lpg temp ,and like you say no wall wetting will reduce temps variation ,although boost and traffic could send it a bit high .

maye it would be feasable to use the water temp instead ?

and again ,with much less wall wetting type of mixture variation ,it would all cope hmmm.
