for the feed and return fuel lines could i use a rubber line instead of a copper line and just use the copper for the connections to the pump etc? or will the rubber be no good? it will be running inside the car!

also i am about to order my new valves and springs what would you recomened for a turbo head!? double valve springs? and what size valves? and i suppose bronze valve guides.

also could anyone tell me what big end shell caps i need for my turbo crank!? http://www.minispares.com/Search.aspx

thanks ben

Standard turbo valves and springs work well.

And you can use suitable rubber hose for fuel lines to attach any hardline tubes to the carb or FPR within the engine compartment or underneath or around the tank.

Rubber fuel lines should never be used in the cabin. And I wont admit to ever being as stupid to use them in my own car lol
Although they did work fine. They can tend to stink of fuel though. Young and naive and all that.

Hardline or teflon braided in the cabin only. Nothing else.

Big end bearings are all the same. It's only the turbo bottom half mains that are different being a flat shell

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

The valves need to be the correct size for whatever size the seats in the head are. As you're fitting new guides the seats will need recutting anyway. But if you're increasing the valve sizes the head will need porting to suit to get the most from them.

It would make a lot more sense to give your head to someone with experience and ability.

Then say "here is my head, can you please install valves and springs that are suitable for my turbo engine"

Mini spares race valves and you have your sizes
Get double valve springs, don't know which ones but mini magazine had a bit on cylinder heads this month or last that covered it

be careful with doing cheap mods, i am a 3rd year apprentice now, but when i started on turbo-ing my mini i made mistakes buy doing things on the cheap and as a result i broke a 3k engine within 300miles. (all new parts). so had to rebuy it all again. then that only lasted 6k miles and broke because it was detonating. i should have got megajolt and a wideband afr! (was running 9psi). basically the moral of the story is dont set a deadline and rush to complete the car and make sure you get suitable components for the job. not that your not doing things right but turbo phill and benross do head work on here so i would liten to their comments on the subject :) hope all goes well with the build and look forward to seeing the finished article.
