Hello, i did a quick search on this but didn't find the technical info i need. im after buying a cheap easy to install gauge with a numeric readout and a sensor of some sort. but i dont know which one to buy or what type to buy etc... (new to this)

Anyway from what i have gathered if i bought a lambda sensor for any car that is a narrow-band one? (would narrow-band be 2 wires and wide-band would be 4)?? would it work with this gauge?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...#ht_3196wt_1253

the description says it can work with my existing sensor, so i am assuming from this that i can just get a narrow-band sensor from any car and use that? and put the gauge in and everything will be hunky dory?

i found this for cheap, and it has 1 wire? not sure if it will work but what do you guys think?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-1-wire-Oxygen-la...M#ht_6850wt_911

i found 2 lambda sensors on eBay for £5 in working condition both have 2 wires, does this mean they're narrow-band? (haven't bought them yet) awaiting your expertise first.

And whereabouts would i weld in the plug into the exhaust? could i drill and tap the turbo elbow or is this too close?

Opinions please, i dont have much money either im afraid :(

I wouldn't bother with narrow band as they are no use for tuning as they just flick rich to lean. Save your money for a wide band.

johhny , i think you'l find that a narrow band wont give accurate data from 10 :1 to 20:1 ,so id treat this guage with some caution ...nay ,suspicion ,that it cant really deliver .
if you want to go narrow band ,get a 4 wire narrow band sensor off a car at the scrappy ,then connect a volt meter to the appropriate wire and read of volts from 0 to 1 v .the middle range around 500 mv will be 14.7:1 ,any lower is leaner ,any higher is richer ..but be aware ,a narrow band is only really sensitive around 14.7:1,,it only takes a small change ,say to 13.5:1 for it to go full scale to 1volt and not read any more ..
so its usefull to let you know if your above or below 14.7 but not to give full 10:1 to 20:1 type of info .

Ive bought a couple of things off him in the past

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will
