Is the hoist working ok seeing as you're the first person to ever use it?

Yeah fun fun fun.

Yesterday I disconnected everything, then dropped the gearbox off and lifted the old engine. I then seperated the turbo engine and box and put the engine in first, then put the gearbox on and got it all bolted up on its mounts, just before my girlfriend stopped joking and started threatening me Re: Valentines day :)

Today I have put the driveshafts back in and put the suspension back together, changed the cambelt and tensioned it properly, converted the diesel lines to different ends to fit the turbo injector pump, and wired the majority of it back in. I managed to get it to run in NA mode about 5pm much to the disgust of my neighbours (no exhaust on it yet....) so at that I have called it a day and come back in the house.

Tomorrow I have got to plumb the water in, and then turn it into a boosted variety by connecting up all the boost hoses and intercooler.

The hoist has performed excellently, there is no way I would have managed without it, thanks again.

One of the 'bonuses' of working shifts......last 12 days I have worked approx 100hrs at work..... but the careful use of 3 holiday days now gives me 9 days off in a row!

Well it runs....will idle happily all day long....but it won't rev up....seems to be getting starved of fuel....so off outside to try and see why....

You know when you start something and then wish you hadn't bothered.....

Oh well at least I am mildly entertained by a few whooshing and chattering type noises I get from the turbo when it occaisionally does rev up enough to make a touch of boost........

Made it work!!!

After much scratching of head and meddling with diesel pipes (diesel is bloody horrible, at least when you get petrol on your hands it evaporates) I was still stumped at 2pm. However a friend of mine had been doing some ringing around a few contacts in the trade, most people thought it was probably sucking in air, but one chap straight away said when my mate explained the symptoms "banjo bolts for the fuel into the pump".

The feed bolt has a large hole, whereas the return bolt has a small hole. The engine I bought was missing its feed bolt so I pinched one off the old engine, it was the same thread so I thought no more of it. Took it out, and it had a tiny hole. 2mins with the drill and put it back and bleed the system, and hey presto we now have one turbo diesel that revs round to the governer!!! One frantic session of bolting things on later and I dash off up the road, so far so good.

Except when I get back it all of a sudden gets very hot and blows all its coolant out.....

Refill and rebleed the cooling system, start her up and it pressurises the cooling system immediately.....head gasket.....

So anyone know what come back rights I have through eBay? The engine was described as "running well before removal"????

Not a bad deal in the end!

Aye I am fairly pleased with the end result vs cost. I have been outside before lunch turning the boost and the fuelling up......!!!!!!
