hi, well i have a problem, have a 998cc mini and have cosworth vents cut into my bonnet which i placed there mainly 4 when i put my turbo in for better air flow.
I was out the other night taking my gf for some food all was fine untill it started to rain, the car started to judder and even though i dropped it to second gear and put foot fully down it was still decreasing in speed till it cut out.
it started back up again straight awat but under reving made a funny kinda bubbling/poping sound coming from the exhaust area.
the car kept cutting out n stalling. managed to get home, the car does this however everytime it rains can any1 tell me what this is?
i know i sound block the vents up which is my plan 4 time being but there has got to be some other way around it?
thanx mark *happy*

speed is the best rush i have ever had!!!

its more than likely the rain getting your dizzy area wet. try putting a bit of card or something between the dizzy and the grille. Mine does exactly the same ever since ive fitted a new dizzy cap, gonna dig out the 3 year old one had on before as that never got affected by the rain!

yep, sounds like the dizzy is getting wet to me aswell.
put a cover on to shield it and then go for a drive in the rain! should have no problems..

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

sort it at the root cause like the members says.
vents! and sort a sheild for the dizzy its a must

but get some silicon spray for the leads and the cap and coil and apply this, it gives you some more insurance against the rain

this will help to repel any moisture on these items and insure you GF gets her food

yup mine does this when its wet too, dried and cleaned the cap and leads etc and it was ok, tho struggles a little i found it only relaly does it under load toh, so just tickle the throttle and take it relly steady, least you will get home, i had to dothis for 12 miles *surprised*

Use the standard type dizzy splash shield and you should find it will be a lot better. For a std front it is a plastic thing approximately square in shape that sits in front of the dizzy on the front panel.
