They sound about the correct bits you need.

You can get vdo senders for various depth tanks, they need a ring with m5 threads welding on the tank.
These work with a lot of gauges (vdo obviously and some digital ones allow you to calibrate them), but on the std one they seem to work on a half scale. I did figure out the resistance and try to improve mine but now it doesn't work at all.....

Pump wise I'd go for an external injection one, unless you get the bits for an internal one built into it.

Baffled or foam its up to you. Foam tanks take a bit of waiting around at petrol stations whilst the level drops and make sure there's a cut out in the foam so you can get the nozzle in.

And dontt forget to think of some method of holding it down

I've been looking at all this lately, decided on this tank: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ALLOY-FUEL-TANK-5-GA...les_CarParts_SM

something like this for the pump: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Petrol-electric-...les_CarParts_SM

and something like this for the reg: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MG-Metro-Mini-Turbo-...les_CarParts_SM

How to the fuel level senders work if you fill the tank with foam? surely the foam will get in the way of the float :/

They are in a tube and you cut away the foam.

Look on the merlin website at the vdo sender

maybe work out a rough mpg and reset a trip comp every time you fill up, work out how far you will get on a tank and fannies your ant!

A piece of wooden dowel is the favourite at the race track.
Then you can accurately have the minimum required for one event.

so when it comes to mot time. jsut have a guage in there but it dont work lol. ideally if im not going to get one to work then i dont wont one. i dont mind using the wood trick tbh. ill prbs get a fairly big tank for a mini loike 6.5 gallon. then ill just work out rough mpg and check the tank when im close. i wont be driving the car much on long journeys anyone so at track days i can just check before next outing and the drag stipp same thing. and to tget to the places ill probs trailer it anyway unless its brands or lydden cos there local.

so that one in the link is the one to get? is it litrally tank outlet fuel line to the lump then fuel filter then straight to the reg? thats it? so the pump pulls out the tank then pushes up the line
