got abit of a nightmare situation, i recently bought a kenlowe fan from mini spares. i wired up the control unit and fitted the fan to my radiator. went to mount the radiator in the car and found it wouldn't fit. problem is i have a flip front and the brace bar is only giving 30mm clearance at its lowest point. so i have taken the fan off and found that if mount it the over way round so its back is against the radiator and the fan facing out towards the wheel it will fit, however the fan will then push heat from the rad into the engine bay not away from. unless........ if i wire it up the oppersite way will it rotate the oppersite way thus sucking from the rad and not blowing into the engine bay? does this sound ok or will it melt the motor in the fan? lol anyone any suggestion. dont think mini spares will let me send it back.

it depends on the model some can run both ways, however I have mine fitted to the inner wing and I just turned the fan around, as it cant be reversed electronically, my car does have a rad shroud so the rad is "sealed" to the inner wing, which I think helps air flow.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

not sure about mine as it has a sticker on top of the fan which states direction and air flow. might phone kenlowe tomorrow see if it can run both ways if it does it would be most helpful.
cheers

Depends on the motor they have used,

If it's an older type commutator and brush motor they will run backwards if you reverse the wires - they may not run as well backwards (depends on how the brushes are aligned) and if the fan is a proper aerofoil section it needs to be turned around too.

However if it is a modern brushless DC motor it will not run backwards and you will most likely destroy the electronics inside the motor if you connect it with the wrong polarity.

You really need to ask the supplier/manufacturer before you try.

Just turning the fan around on a motor that runs in one direction only does nothing except drop it's effeciency, it will still blow the air in the same direction, just very badly (assuming it's a proper aerofoil section blade).

dont suppose anyone knows if the pacet fans fit between the radiator and the brace bar on a flip fronted mini?

does anyone know which way the mini fan cools does it blow or suck air? because if it sucks air from the wing through the rad i'll still be able to use my kenlowe
this is how the fan shud be

far to big to fit between rad and brace bar
however if i take the metal locating ring turn the fan around it does fit

but the problem with that is what direction does the mechanical fan push air as the kenlowe will push the hot air from the rad towards the engine, sud it be pulling it from the rad and out inner wing?

so if any one can advise on this id greatly apprieciate it.
cheers matt

Mechanical (on the end of the water pump) pushes air from the engine out into the wheel arch. It does this whichever way round you fit it, it just does it better if it's on the right way around.

From the label on your last photo, a bit blurred but I think I can read it, this is wrong.

It looks like the one you have is a blow through, not a suck through.
