Hi people.... had a few issues with the turbo over the summer (if thats what it was)

After a short 150+ mile drive (our lass Driving) it seems that the thermostat had stuck shut when the car was put back in the garage... i took the car for a quick spin and as you can imagine the temp gauge needle went through the roof very quickly.... i shut the car down as it was losing power and then realised why

After 20 mins at the side of the road and a few litres of warm water the needle dropped to half way, turned the car over but would not start.... we managed to bump the car off and nurse it the last mile home with the temp rising again

I have removed the head and found no cracks or anything noticable and fitted a new head gasket, the car will still not start, i have compression tested the engine and it is giving around 60psi per chamber, so im guessing it is going to need the head skiming

I could do with some slight help to find out the best or most reliable places to take it around the Leeds Area

Any help would be much appreciated (and save our lass chewing my balls anymore about it)

Sorry for the full Essay

and a picture underneath of while it was running aswell

repeat the compression test with a drop of oil in the bores see if it makes any difference.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Have you checked the basics? As you've had the head of it could be any number of things unrelated to the original problem

Have you got a spark?
Are the plug leads on in the correct order?
Is the coil connected properly?
Have you connected the carb up correctly?

etc etc etc

60psi, that's very very low, should be double or triple that.

Something wrong there.

cheers for the replies chaps.... i thought it was rather low

the fuel lines were never taken off
i will try another coil but the one that is on is sparking (very strong) & fule is getting to the carb

I will try the oil down the bores and see if that helps

will get in touch with Fastcarl and see how much it will be to skim the head..... and replace valves & seals aswell

Thanks Again... will update you as soon as the work is carried out

Not sure if Carl does that kind of machine work.

Try Benross, he's in the wakefield area and is a dab hand with a head
