Hi, all
Im off work with the back again so im trying to some research as to what to get next.

Right the evo is ok, especialy if you go for a blast over the tops (saying that i still say the porsche handled miles better) but its crazy loud on the motorway and has a crazy short gearbox so at say 3k in 5th ul be doing 65 so 80 is 4.5k +. Its kind of ok on fuel , returns 200miles to a tank at £50 but if you drive very steady itl do 250, but its hard it just beggs to go faster.

The big but is, everyone looks at you as if your a bell (no comments plz) supose they dont have the best reputation.

Am thinking leon cupra r 225 insted, 6 sp box ,remap to 270 ish .
Could have one of those detatchable tow bars that vags have to tow the mini, younger bro has a ibiza with the same engine and gets 35+mpg on a run and they have a long final drive so cruze on the motorway.

Any thaughts or comments

Rick

I had one and now just brought the newer older brother, with the fsi engine, can't fault them really never had any problems and they handle really well for a standard car. cheap golf in my eyes.

Don't know if it's just me but it always seem to be the seat drivers that are BACs on the road. Obviously that excludes TM members and their close relatives...

Although I'm not a V8 man, I always fancied one of these.

A friend of mine had an M5, similar thing, sidways at every rounabout and so much comfort, but 12/15mpg was shocking.

Aussie cars rule! You can get nice superchargers for the LS series engines, and there's a few tuners in England too.

not enough pennies for a nice rs4 there, my s4 gets around 32mpg, maybe a tad more cruising on a long run, fully laden its mid 20's, round town, mid 20's, towing - mid 20's.
Strangely it has a sweet spot around 80 ish where the fuel consumption is better.

If its the old shape your looking at then the Leon 1.9 tdi engine has 150bhp and 320 Nm of torque standard a remap on a diesel does a lot more then on petrol so you could assume it can be taken to over 200 break with the addition also of a decent intercooler and some other minor adjustments with this done it will still hold the plus side of 50 mpg according to a lot of owners and its the same pd engine from the golfs
As for the new shape the FR Leon again comes in a diesel but this time a 2.0 tdi with 170 bhp and 350 Nm of torque again a remap and other simple bits would see it over 200 nicely without putting a sucker on the mpg as its diesel. It also looks fairly mint
The diesels are worth considering with these cars I meen 350 Nm of torque from standard sounds fun :p if you wanted it but without having a crappy mpg
That's my penny's worth anyway

Just as a note the mpg is worth taking a look at I know its great and still good after tuning with a diesel but the number I hushed here are ones I picked up from what I read and heard so could be as much b/s as it is truthful
A tuning company for anyone wow handles diesel remap should be able to give you rough figures after a remap
:) hope this has been a help

back!
exactly the same.
though you can do a little better with an egg under the throttle.
the wifey's citroen C3 is strangely equalling it around town, then is worst on long runs.
But the idea is not there as it's so good to feel/hear it going *happy*, and 32 mpg; 7l/100 on road 20mpg;11l/100 in town is very livable, the mini's surely consuming just a little bit less. I didn't expected when I bought it that I could using it everyday, fuel wise.

A deisel is somthing id thaught about, i had a golf gttdi 150 a few years back but never got on with it, tbh i was thinking the opposite to now, i could do a run to a show /trackday etc and it use £10 worth less fuel, yes its better but i thaught id rather put the extra in and have a fancyer car.

You can't possibly be recommending that somebody buys a 1 series BMW?!?!? They are the most pointless car on the planet!

If you have 10k then why not one of the newer cupra fr's? Mine is fantastic, average 35mpg and its got a revo remap to 265bhp and flies, 150mph with ease and very comfortable too! you can pick a good one up for that money.
