thanks in advance

It will only open the waste gate at full boost, i.e if it isnt working you will run unlimited boost (matty)

The feed pipe to the actuator will usually come from the compressor housing on the turbo.

You wont feel any flow of air from the actuator, it all comes from the other end of the pipe

Try hooking a fut pump up to the actuator and pump. You should see the actuator move.

hi mate..

thanks for getting back to me... i had already read that thread... that how i connected the actuator. but since the pipe that goes to it has so little air pressure i was wondering if it wasnt diferent on the t2. also i have tried the actuator with an air compressor... and it open fine, but the air pressure coming from the pipe that connects to the actuator seems to low...:(

How are you checking for pressure? You know you need to load the engine to make boost - i.e. drive it

what pressure does it open at with the air compressor?
make sure the pipe is in good condition and connect it back up to the compressor housing take off. you will not sense any relevant pressure from here in your garage.
take it for a spin and keep an eye on the boost gauge.

hi guys..

thanks for the reply's... i was testing the pressure in my garage just reving it, so that explains why there is so little of it..(stupid me,and stupid mechanic) also just from seeing pics on here of renault 5 actuators, i realized that mine is completely different.... so maybe its an actuator for more boost , and that's why its not opening? this brings me to my next question, can you change the spring on any actuator or only on some, and how can you tell if you can change it on yours? if i cant change the spring, can you recommend an actuator for this purpose?on the cheap side would be great...if not i'll bite the bullet. also the guy where i have my car seems like a total noob with turbos(got to get me a decent mechanic, i'm starting to wonder if the waste gate is opening and he just thinks it isn't, how can i tell if it opens or not?

many thanks guys....

If it opens, the rod connected to the waste gate moves.

I think you may be getting yourself worked up over nothing.
Does the car run unlimited boost?

You are not going to see the actuator move when its just sat still, it opens to stop the car going into mega boost. Eg a 10psi actuator will push the rod a few mm at 10psi.

Get the car finished and take it out to see what happens

the boost pressure will go up and up until either its maxed out or the engine pops,

if it works the boost pressure will go up to say 4, 7, 10 ,12 or so psi ( whatever the actuator is set to) and stay there untill you lift off

general speaking if you can move the actuator by hand, hence moving the waste gate it will more than likely work
