sorry my last question this week, just another problem i had last night was my car drank all its clutch fluid, this is the 2nd clutch slave since putting the engine in, and i couldnt find the leak anywhere. I just noticed its coming from the clutch slave, and i think its because of how much the plate that holds it is flexing!!!

Its a short arm on the "china-mans-hat" with a plate coming off the top under the engine stabiliser. The plate it held on at the top by two bolts which are really tight, i think they are 14mm. there is a holdejust above where the arm comes out of the "china-mans-hat", its only tiny but im wondering if its threaded to hold a bolt or similar from the plate.

Im searching google images simultaniously right now for 4pot flange pics, brake slave plates and pics of carb springs!!!

It's becuase the slave is fooked...

Cheap and nasty parts sold by mini specialists probably...

Buy a pukka (genuine) one from Rover, minispares, Moss, etc - or from Halfords (?) and keep your reciept to claim your 12 months warranty!

Do you have a B&Q, plumbers merchants, anything near you??? Just buy a length of steel tube, cut it to length, and bob's your uncle.

Before you ask the length... I don't know - just gauge it off the pic.

another thought - you could probably just use a few 8mm / 5/16 nuts (the 13mm spanner sized ones) and a few washers - saves on buying a length of tube!

I'm guessing you don't have a bolt either?

You need a 1/4"UNF bolt - you're best judging on the length...

I'd be concerned why it's not there though - maybe the thread is stripped out of the alloy housing??? Best to take off the slave, then the plate and check the thread out with a little mirror and a torch. If it looks ok, it probably is.
Fit the plate first (without the slave) - it's easier if you fit the 1/4" bolt and spacer first (but leave loose) - AFTER you've checked the length of the tube / packing washers/nuts - then fit the 3/8" bolts, then tighten it all up.

oh, this would have goosed the slave through side-loading the piston!*wink*

You might find the bolt that a standard seat pivots on will be long enough to do the trick? And definately 1/4" UNF.
