In all fairness the looks of the MK1 Bini grew on me, but this is just vile!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

whats mini about that its huge, i think Ian_W said it was based on a 1 series platform.

I read this earlier and like most people I don't know what to think. We all know that the MINI is far removed from the original mini concept so should we really care that it is moving yet further away?

Face it, MINI is a brand and if you compare the countryman to its competitors then it could be quite a good machine.

Nail on head Ben, the only thing in common is the four letters, M, I, N, I, aside from that it is simply a marketing brand that they use to best effect to try and get joe public to buy their car as opposed to someone elses, end of story. BMW don't give a toss about the Mini heritage, MINI is now an established brand in its own right.

4 wheel drive! well it is if you pay the extra to have it... similar in ways to the bmw X1 but engine is still transverse in the countryman.
agree with what ben and tom said, in its own right its actually quite a good 4 door car with a big boot (all be it rather pointless 4x4 like but thats what alot of people want these days) it just happens to share a name with the car we know and love.

I think because bmw keeps making more of these things, its pushing up the price of used classic minis.
Itll end eventually when they run out of ideas but i cant see any bmw mini lasting 50 odd years.

try to think of the bmw mini as not a remake and eventually it will grow on you and you will start to even like it,

when you think of the fiat 500 (modern version) that is a remake of the original,do you think the owners of the classic versions feel the same as most classic mini owners feel about the bini
