I don't know about water mate but I had to do something similar with my electricity. Mine was spurred off next doors supply. I was building an extension so had to relocate my meter. I got on to national grind who charged me £1500 to connect it up. I had to do all the digging on my property and they did the rest. |

Hi I have moved into out first house 6 weeks ago, we have discovered we have a water leak after having a visit regarding a water meter. It turns out our water main runs up our next door driveway and across the back of the house to get to ours. What we are thinking of doing is running a new main through our garden. Any ideas on how much this might cost to have the trench dug or a mole used?? Its about a 25 meter run from the pavement stop cock to the one in our house? Any advice would be greatly apreciated. Thanks Jon Hi you prob already know this but all water up to the road stop tap its the water authoritys problem, after that its yours. I assume from what you say that there is a road stop tap at the bottom of your drive but instead of going through your land it goes through the neighbours, and this is the piece that is leaking. Pretty easy to do your self only hard bit is, can you dig down and uncover the first bit of pipework after the road stop tap without encroaching on the pavement or other land, and uncover where it goes into the house, if so connect to that and run a new pipe between similar size bore to that you have now- 20mm alkathene is suitable for most normal sized houses, there are tons of connectors available for copper, lead even multifits that will cater for just about everything, even if your not adept at plumbing nothing to say you cant dig it and ask someone to fit the pipework. If the road stop tap needs moving so you can get onto it that will be a job for the water board and will cost. On 18th Oct, 2013 apbellamy said:
