Was eagerly awaiting a new monitor to be delivered to me today on a saturday delivery I shelled out for with DPD, the company who delivers for the retailer I bought my monitor from.

Woke up and went to check the tracking site they run for deliveries, and apparently they had already attempted to deliver to me and left a card? Hmmm, i spy two piles of bullshit.

Number one, my door phone has a ringer loud enough to wake the dead, so i'm pretty sure they didnt even try to reach me. Number two, unless it's one of those new fangled invisible "We called while you were out" calling cards, I cant seem to find one.

So, they either attempted to deliver to someone else and failed, or they never even bothered to try and find my address and just filled it in as me not being there on their tracking site.

Has anyone else ever had issues with DPD being useless swines? Or is it just me?

its not just DPD that do this
bought a slr from amazon and it came citylink
was supposed to be there on a friday, it never showed so i called them up to find out what was happening. turns out the guy had put a card through my works letterbox. so i politely told the nice girl on the phone that the driver was a Liar as my work dosent have a letter box.
bottom line i got it on monday and emailed amazon asking for my postage costs to be refunded.
latest one was a pallet i had coming payed extra for it to come on friday and it never showed up. i wasnt amused by this and called the company and spoke to my area manger who was also confused by this.
i think the driver thought fuck it im not gonna bother with this tonite and left it.
arranged for delivery on the saturday and got it 11:30am
im still waiting on my phonecall regarding my late delivery

Had the same thing happen with DHL just a week ago said my nice new fletcher system was with a neighbour. Took me going down there and arguing with them and. it was "somehow" left on a van and not delivered. After they said they had tryed to deliver twice but no card was left.

When DPD fail a delivery at the door, they take a photo of the property to show where they were.

Although if its a case where there are no numbers on the house etc, IMO people do not deserve to get anything delivered.
Or arseholes that live 1/2 mile up a lane, and have a number on their back door :S
How the fuck is anyone supposed to find that from the road ?

it is a hell of a lot easier to deliver stuff and get it away, than to fail like you mention above and return it to depot and have to try it all over again.

I wouldnt go by their online tracking too much. More often the piece will be delivered by the time it shows it out for delivery.

Agree with Sturgeo on this.

The DPD drivers will sit outside and wait till the allotted delivery time if they are early.

We did have a similar problem with Citylink when they were supposed to deliver on a weekend.

It's more down to whether the driver wants to get off early, rather than the company.

Not sure how DPD operate on the mainland. But most here are franchise based, with self employed drivers.

They always want to get the run finished as quickly as possible, and you never want to bring parcels back to the depot. As all it means, is there will be more to take out the next day.
Delivery failures are more of a pain in the arse, than an easy way out.

The biggest annoyance is people without proper addresses or ID for their property, and those who dont answer the door when you call.

ive done work for various courier companies over this past year. Even had one dipshit phone after I carded them saying I never called. Despite banging their front door, placing the card thru their letterbox, stopping to take the photo etc ( red LED of scanner usually lights up during this ) then leaving.

When on the phone they even said they seen something out front with a red light. "Ahhh, he should have came around the back door, we were in the kitchen"

Seriously...WTF ???

Some people dont deserve anything delivered !

Well, as I said, no card arrived through the letterbox. My door phone did not ring, so as far as i can tell, no attempt to deliver the parcel was made.

I gave my address details correctly to the company I bought the monitor from, so I can't see any problems here either. The house numbers and name of the flats are plastered all over the front of the building, and it sticks out like a sore thumb from the road as it looks nothing like the surrounding buildings. So unless they are employing blind drivers, I cant see how the driver got the wrong address.

So this leaves me to conclude that obviously, no delivery attempt was made, turning my weekend to shit in the process.

Rest assured I will be on the phone to DPD tomorrow to find which fucking moron who doesnt know his dick from his elbow didnt manage to deliver my parcel.

I can't speak about DPD but I have had the same problem with most of the major couriers that work around here.

BUT - only when they use a relief or agency driver rather than their own employees because of sickness, holidays etc. Well, every time I've phoned or written to complain that has allways been the excuse they give, "Agency, didn't know the area....."

I guess a driver employed just for the day doesn't care if he takes a whole load of deliveries back telling the depot no-one was in as he/she doesn't have to sort out the mess and take the abuse the next day.

And whenever I've given the driver abuse the next day, he/she tells the same story as the company "I wasn't on yesterday, it was a relief driver...."

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

For some of the reasons I supplied, finding peoples houses can be a total nightmare.
And as already mentioned about DPD. Their scanners include a camera, and when you fail a delivery, you have to take a photo to complete the fail.
I can only assume their system is the same on the mainland as it is here.

if it is so important, phone the depot when you know its due, and collect it in person ( obviously before it gets sent out for delivery around 7-8am )
