Hi, Just wondering if its possible to just block off the waterways on the cylinder head when dry decking, rather than both head and block?

you will have to do both for dry deck, this is something that you could do yourself if you have the time and access to some cast iron bar, taps, dies and loctite |

you dont need to fully strip it, protect the cylinders from dirt, drill and tap the waterways and fit lock-tited grub screws

Dry decking surley isn't the answer to not melting No. 4 piston.

Just planing on dry deck to be safe, I'd rather do the mod now before the engine goes in the car. If is not necessary fair enough, but most people if spoken too seen to recommend it and have had good results, ie turbophil, mike race Class C 3rd Place Avon 2011 14.18 @101mph |

Fast Carl turned the hole in my head and spun me some hose tails up for my dry deck conversion. I'm doing the rest myself.

If you only want the cooling benefit, then the easiest thing to do is to plug the block only.

Yes, but it's far cheaper to buy a dry deck kit & just plug the block. |

The cheapest is to open up the heater outlet and route this into the radiator. Job done On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

Phil , why plug the block, rather than just the head? I figure that way if I ever needed to fit a standard head all I would have to do is fit another core plug into the block. Phil I will sent you PM about cost and timescale. Class C 3rd Place Avon 2011 14.18 @101mph |

I used normal grub screws on the last block, just tapped deep enough for them to sit just below the surface. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
