Nice. But whay not use the 7-port head for the turbo? Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Hey wil_h, keeping options open for the 7 port turbo....figured that I wanted to get the turbo setup properly on the 5 port and work my way up to fuel injection, etc....but I need to figure my basics first... Eric

7 port injection for me too! If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

yes gr4h4m...it does go very well, although I'm having issues getting the bottom end tuning just right with the webers. It is very on and off at slight throttle....after 3k and 1/4 + throttle it runs like a dream with lots of power all the way up. To make me happy, I would need to go fuel injected to make it run the way I want it to. If I am going to go through that much trouble, I might as well put the turbo in the mix to get some extra bang for my work.

Hey robert, not too much cam...went with a kent 276 on this one. At this point, I am a bit rich on the idle jets as there is a tiny lean spot barely off idle or slight throttle cruise. Unfortunately, I go to the rich side to finish the progression until it opens up a bit to the mains.

I previously ran a weber 45 on a maniflow intake on a Calver GT head with a 286 scatter cam that was tuned spot on... I just can't leave well enough alone! might be worth going up on the idle air correctors ,then up on the idle jets , this would richen up the bottom of the idle range and lean off the top just before the mains come in , either that or drop the main venturis a couple of mil? you could also try running the tappets a bit looser ,or running a msd 6 box on the dizzy . Thanks robert for the advice....I am currently running the med 1.5 rockers in the head that they did the flow work on as well with a larger intake valve. I haven't tried the standard rockers or loosening the tappets (currently at .016). I did try using 30mm chokes, but they only lost out on top end and didn't help bottom issues over the 32's. I'll keep fooling with the idles. I do have lots of spark with the pertronix coil and the 123 distributor & 8.5mm wires. I'd like to get this sorted before I move on to additional projects.

Well robert....I got home and re-set my tappets to .018...made a major difference on the low end...just need to fine tune that last 5% now with the idle jets....
