Hi guys,

Mini won't be comming out again this year so it getting time for it to be laidup until
Aprilish next year.
What's the best way to store the car? Should I put it on 4 axle stands? Should these be on the subframe or on te bottom arms to keep the sup loaded?
Plugs out?
My gargae is nice and dry but ventilated I have a battier maintainer thingy but I'll disconnect it. Any other tips?

Just make sure you have plenty of antifreeze in it! *frown* I learnt the hard way.

I'd also drain the fuel out as it'll go off and I'd buy some small portable anti condensation traps and place these in the footwells with the doors closed, the sort that B&Q or Focus sell for small cupboards and caravans etc. Only about £5 each but just check and drain off any fluid every 3-4 weeks - you'll still get fluid in it even in a dry garage.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

someone mentioned to me about jacking it up and dropping the tire pressers to stop the side walls getting fucked from sitting in one place for to long. Kinda makes sense.

just drain fluids?
imo the tires should be ok

i know a guy who fills his engine to the top with fresh oil when he goes on tour

personally im sceptical, i think oil would seep past the rings/stems/valves into the cylinders

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

i was told take the wheels off and leave on axle stands, to relieve anything of pressure and unnecessary wear! and fill engine with oil to protect polished surfaces!

Personally I'd just start it up every few weeks to keep everything freely running. It'll help to charge the battery and if you have a heater you could put it on to dry the car out.

As long as the tyres are fully inflated I can't see how being stood for a couple months could cause any issues? *oh well*

I think this tyre thing is bollocks. My car has sat for over 2 years. The Tyres are still like new.

My mums MGB on the other hand has sat for 15 years with flat tyres. They are fucked.

Yup, I wouldn't leave anything in my garage for too long. It doesn't stand a chance. Lol

It sounds like this is only one winter you are parking it up, Some suggestions might apply if it was for 5-6 winters.

It's easy. Park it, ensure there is antifreeze in it, disconnect battery. Leave handbrake off if possible.

Then after winter. Ensure battery is charged, then start driving it again.

Keep an eye on the tyres in case they go flat. Other than that, wouldnt worry about it.

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will
