Engine numbers are easy to swap but why would you. Also some turbo heads have a T stamped in them above No.4 cylinder. The dizzy should be numbered 42628 and may have a letter prefix or 41932 which may also have a letter prefix. But thats no guarantee that crank and pistons are turbo items as the turbo and MG metro cranks have bigger journals. Edited by Mr Joshua on 9th Sep, 2010. Own the day

Put it another way. Our metro van has turbo pistons on turbo rod's on a crank from a bog standard normal 1275 A+ fitted in a standard block.

I'll put that another way then, the rod's are the ones that came out of the turbo engine with the pistons attached. Obviously I have no way of knowing if this was factory configuration or not.

Mains journals, as for width or diameter Like i said I will check the big blue book but I am sure the MG and Turbo cranks had bigger mains journals. Also when i took a crank to be regroung for a turbo build the engineer said it wont fit as the mains were too small for a Turbo Edited by Mr Joshua on 9th Sep, 2010. Own the day

They didn't. All 1275 A-series engines have 2" mains. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

Checked the big blue book and there are two different diamiters for the mains on an A+ crank 850 & 1000 versus all the 1275 models. My excuse is my poor memory due to age and self pleasuring Own the day

all turbo engines was A+ and all A+ are the same, Not quite The early A+1275 block had groove/ groove main bearings, up to around 1985 to 1987, no one can be sure. The turbo motor during that time had a plain/ groove main bearing, hence why people keep saying the turbo block is better. After this date, ALL 1275 A+ blocks had the plain/ groove main bearing. Rule of thumb way of telling which is an early or late A+ 1275 block is by the casting number WMF1024 clearly visable on the side of the late blocks, just under the head across number 3 and 4 cylinders, and the only way to tell a late 90's block is by the oil filter feed pipe fitting. 1992 onwards then saw a change in the screw fitting of the oil filter feed pipe. Then there is the MPi block, the Marina block and the Maestro block. all A+ but different
