I've got, and have used in fact, a std 7.5 gallon tank with a return crudly welded and seals into the top...

my question is: Is it ok running the std 8mm tank outlet when the metro pump has a 10mm inlet?

Yeah I have done this, just run an inline enlarger from 8mm up to 10mm just before the pump about 2 inchs or so.

But i am running twin tanks.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

I used the outlet off the metro tank and brazed that in so i could even use the piece of hose of the metro. Did the same with the return.

THought if i used the standard metro stuff then i should be ok. *happy*

thats exactly what I did, just wondering if there are likly to be any problems... 8mm is plenty for the the power i am running, but is the pump going to like it?

Might be the reason why your pump sounded dodgy. They dont like restrcitions i dont think.

Thing is the pump has different inlet and outlet sizes. WOuld of thought it was for a good reason. *happy*

it could be, but that wouldn't explain why it only does it when its hot...

the suck restriction is far less than the push restriction.. I would have thought a restriction up stream would be more an issue.

although its a good point.

This post is from ages ago, just bringing it up again to ask if anyone found out if the inline enlarger for the pipe is ok?

This is what i have done, i have a piece of pipe 8mm coming from the tank, into a piece that make it up to 10mm to join perfectly onto the metro fuel pump. Pump pumps fuel anyway ive tried it.

i just used a piece of 8mm from the tank to the pump inlet and made it fit the 10mm inlet with lots of swearing, spit and grunting. :)

seems to work fine though.

Do it proper! its easy enough.... i posted this in the other thread....

"Ive just done a temporary job using some of the 10mm copper pipe from plumbworld. (will probably become permanent as it was a good job!!)

i cut the stump of the old outlet on the tank off flush using an angle grinder, then, using a 10mm drill, i drilled the centre of the hole (in the tube) until the pipe became unattached (falls inside). i then continued to drill until i had a nice 10mm hole.

using the bit of pipe drilled out as a template (fished out thru the sender hole) i bent up a new piece out of 10mm copper and poked that through the hole till it was in the same position as the old one.

then i brazed in the new pipe using a high powered blowlamp. (got one of those bernz-o-matic MAPP brazing torches from B&Q.)

i also drilled a hole at the top for a return feed which i also brazed in.

quite simple really, i was expecting a nightmare job.

need more help, give me a shout "

ive just fitted a mpi tank this weekend easiest way of all i think if you can find one!

before that id just used my breather pipe on the tank as return defiantly not idea took some hard pulling sometimes to get the vaccuumed on filler cap off *tongue*

my fuel pressure wouldnt drop below 6psi before(hardly surprising really) now it works fine

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.
